What's in this template

A per-page keyword assignment template - maps one primary keyword and 2–4 secondary keywords to each key page on your site, records current ranking position, and tracks position changes over time. Simple, single-source-of-truth keyword tracking without needing a dedicated SEO tool subscription.

The one keyword per page rule

Each page should have one primary keyword it's optimised to rank for. Not three. Not "Google Ads and PPC and paid search." One. The primary keyword goes in the title tag, the H1, the URL (if possible), the meta description, and the first 100 words of content. Secondary keywords support it - they're related terms and variations that appear naturally in the content without forcing them.

When a page tries to rank for multiple competing primary keywords, it ends up ranking weakly for all of them rather than strongly for one. Specificity wins in modern SEO.
