SEO success begins with proper planning, and this Keyword Research and Information Architecture Template gives you the structure you need. Organise your keyword research into clear, actionable steps that inform the layout and content of your website. This template ensures that you’re targeting the right keywords, structuring your site for both user experience and search engine optimisation, and improving your overall site visibility.

What's in this template

A keyword-to-URL mapping template - assigns target keywords to specific pages on your site, identifies cannibalisation risks (multiple pages targeting the same keyword), and maps the keyword hierarchy from head terms down to long-tail supporting content. Use it before creating new content or restructuring an existing site.

Keyword cannibalisation: the problem this template solves

Keyword cannibalisation happens when two or more pages on your site target the same keyword. Instead of one page ranking strongly, they compete against each other and both rank weakly. Google has to choose which page to show, and it may not choose the one you want. The result is lower rankings for both pages than one well-optimised page would achieve.

The fix is to consolidate: pick the stronger page, redirect the weaker one to it (or merge the content), and make sure all internal links point to the canonical page. Before creating new content, always check whether a page targeting that keyword already exists.
