ChatGPT Content Ideas for Small Businesses in Australia

ChatGPT, and AI in general, feels like the next gold rush. There was the 90s .com boom, the GFC startup boom and the 2018-2022(?) crypto boom. Each of these have produced some truly great products, tools, services, etc. which have changed the way we work.

Now, AI and ChatGPT are looking to be the next big thing. It’s already changing the way I and my clients are working. While ChatGPT is a great tool for content production, I’m sure there will be many amazing tools built using its API

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence language modelling tool which you can chat with. Essentially, you can ask it anything, and it will produce a bespoke answer for you. You can then provide following prompts within the conversation to fine tune and finesse its response.

And, it’s not just for business use. You can have a tonne of fun with it too. Here’s a poem I asked ChatGPT to write about my dog Walter falling in love with his “girlfriend” in the park, Luna.

Verse 1: Oh! How fair the sun doth shine, On this morn so bright and gay, In the park where dogs do play, And a love so rare was thine.

Chorus: Walter the French bulldog bold, And Luna the boxer fair, In the park on a sunny morn, Fell deeply in love, a pair.

Verse 2: Their eyes did meet and lock, In a gaze so full of fire, As they ran through fields of green, With hearts aflutter, desire.

Chorus: Walter the French bulldog bold, And Luna the boxer fair, In the park on a sunny morn, Fell deeply in love, a pair.

Verse 3: They frolicked through the grass, With playful barks and happy sounds, Their tails wagged in joyous rounds, As love in their hearts doth surpass.

Chorus: Walter the French bulldog bold, And Luna the boxer fair, In the park on a sunny morn, Fell deeply in love, a pair.

Verse 4: Oh! What a sight to see, Two pups so full of life, In love and free from strife, Together, forever they shall be.

Chorus: Walter the French bulldog bold, And Luna the boxer fair, In the park on a sunny morn, Fell deeply in love, a pair.

Epilogue: And so, they lived their lives, With love in every bark and wag, In the park, where they first did drag, Together, forever, a love so wise.

Or, you can ask it to give you some unique ideas for a 30th birthday party or a Valentine’s Day gift. Give it a go, it’s truly remarkable. But before I lose you to the endless fun of creating Shakespearean romances between puppies, let me tell you about some business case uses for small businesses in Australia.

How to use ChatGPT in your marketing

So, what are some ways that ChatGPT can help? The below is by no means an exhaustive list, but it will get you started in thinking about how to use ChatGPT.

  • Blogs
    • Ideation - Generating a list of unique blog post ideas to write.
    • Production - PRoducing the actual content of the blog posts.
  • Newsletters
    • Ideation - Generating a list of unique newsletters to write.
    • Production - PRoducing the actual content of the newsletters.
  • Organic Social Media
    • Ideation - Generating a list of prospective social posts to write.
    • Production - Producing the actual social media posts.
  • Website Copy
    • Production - Generating content that you can use on your website.
    • Review Your Copy - You can input your own copy and ask ChatGPT to review it for you.
  • Video
    • Ideation - Generating a list of ideas that you could produce videos for.
    • Script Writing - Writing detailed scripts for your videos.

For each of the above, you can get ChatGPT’s help in your journey from conception to production.

Let’s use blogs as an example.

You can input into ChatGPT something along the lines of - “Give you 10 ideas for blog posts which are likely to rank well on Google for a digital marketing consulting firm that specialises in small businesses that are based in Australia”. Now, replace the blue words with words that are relevant to your business.

Then, ask it to take things further. I asked ChatGPT to “make these ideas more complex”.

Okay, so we now have a list of 10 blog posts. How about we get one written? Copy and post the title of one of the suggested blogs and ask ChatGPT to write it for you.

And then, let’s ask ChatGPT to change the tone. I asked it to make it "more friendly, as though it's target market is for young entrepreneurs."

I could go on and on here, but I won’t, because I’d probably start to bore you. While the end product may not be exactly what you are looking for, you’ll now have a big slab of text to work with. Feel free to chop and change it to suit your needs.

The same process can be applied to all of the above areas of content production, whether it be for blogs, socials, newsletters, website copy, etc. You can even drop in your current website copy (or any copy) and ask ChatGPT to write it for you with specific tones or target audiences. You can also ask it to write things like scripts for videos.

So, there you have it - a few ways to start using ChatGPT in your digital marketing. Hopefully it helps you save some time in content production and refines your current content. Or, maybe you’ll just use it to give your children their best next birthday party (ask it for some birthday party ideas).
